Online News Credibility

Online News Credibility

There are many news sources out there on the Web that aren't real factual news. Even though it may appear that way and even look like credible news sources they in fact are not.

When looking at different sources there are some ways to tell if they are credible or not. One of the ways is to look at the web address. If it has something weird at the end after the dot part like .oa instead of .com or .org, you can pretty much count on it not being a real good source for news and that the information is usually false or only partly true. People like to make stuff up to keep your interest, but it's usually pretty far fetched.

Some other things to look out for is the part before the dot part. For instance, instead of it being something like www.nbc.com it might be something like www.nbcinside.com. They make it look like a real news source by throwing in the NBC part but it has nothing to do with the real NBC news station. So just keep these few things in mind when searching for the real news.

  1. They do try to make fake sites look legitimate so proofread the website before you use its content in an assignment. -Mandy
